Everything Old is New Again

I am such a nostalgic dag sometimes.  I'm always shopping for vintage items to use in my work.  Tweek a few elements in these photos a bit and they could be now.  If you think about it - nobody knows they're old fashioned. Every era is of course at the cutting edge of time and thinks of itself that way.  These pics are from a fab blog, Vintage Everyday, that I get lost in every time so to speak!

First swim this Summer!

Garden therapy

Only 10 minutes in the garden today but better than another 10 minutes inside on the computer.

Talk about pastoral, idyllic, bucolic! And it's actually real! sigh...I've borrowed her photo to give you a glimpse and would like to say wow to my friend over at Maggie and Sparrow!  Her country abode is going to be featured in the January issue of  Australian Country Style.  Now you know sometimes you look at these magazines and think (well I sometimes do....)  they can't really live like that and maybe its all for show and maybe they're just smiling and hugging their kids for the camera....  well, wrong.  This lady is the genuine article, really lovely, gorgeous family and has carries her style through her home, work and life.  Too talented, she makes quilts and homewares too.  Ok, enough now - you have to check it out yourself!

Its a bit terrifying this blogging business sometimes.  A tiny bit frustrating too sometimes as I'm learning as I go - as must be obvious to you from this slightly dodgy collage that I've put together here. Apologies.
I'm sure I'll improve - eventually. Practice and all that.
Anyway, nothing dodgy about this fabric I found! Such a rich blue it seems edible, almost lavender but definately blue.  Complete with nostalgic little 2/6 price tag.  Its Lanvin blue (the fabric) and I'm sure it was inspired by Jeanne's bedroom.  Totally over the top (her bedroom) in blue shantang with white details embroidered and plastered on.  I found some pictures of her apartment in a World of Interiors mag (Nov2006 if you must know).   Decorated in the 1920s - crazy days!

Grand

Watching lightning from a safe and cozy place, listening to the rain in bed, hearing thunder rumble by.   I took this photo from my front porch tonight and love that it's all calm shades of grey. The clouds themselves were billowing up in such a dramatic fashion.  Spectacular stuff outside the front door.

We loved the happy atmosphere at the market so much that Bon Voyage will continue to donate 10% of sales to Ashby Primary School up until Sunday the 20th November.  Email if you saw something at the market that you'd like to view again. bonvinteriors@hotmail.com

Ashby Primary School Market Day

garden therapy

Yesterday was a crazy day! I helped to organise a market at Ashby Primary School and had a stall there myself! So much to do but the sun shone and the stalls were all fabulous and we all had a great day! I must say, I was quite relieved but also so tired last night. Today it was time to get out there in the garden, mow the lawns and have some green therapy. This clematis flower is the star attraction in my pergola right now. I've heard they're tricky plants but fingers crossed this one thrives. By the way - I think there will be some new photos up soon over on the Ashby Market page. www.facebook.com/AshbyPrimarySchoolMarketDay The hall looked amazing - all the decor courtesy of school Mums. Take a peek..
Well, my first ever blog post... there has to be a first doesn't there.  Does the world need another blog? Well,we had a world of letters that seemed to die down some time ago. There was a community of artists and academics and indeed ordinary people like myself that debated and mused on paper once. The more I've gone down the rabbit hole of blogs out there the more I think how democratic and liberating this current forum is. Certainly some of the posts I've come across have taken me to things I would never have stumbled across otherwise.  So much as I love my paper notebooks and snail mail - I've joined up online and I hope to have fun!  Oh, and the photo - my current batch of furniture ready to go out into the world.
